Celtic vs Hibernian, Tom Rogic injury, update, Ange Postecoglou, reaction, goals

Published

Ange Postecoglou has seen his reinvigorated Celtic side bulldoze Hibernian to claim their fourth consecutive win and move up to second in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Tony Ralston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kyogo Furuhashi inside the opening 30 minutes before Hibs pulled one back just before the half-time break.

But that’s how it ended as Celtic continue to banish memories of Postecoglou’s patchy start to life in Scotland and emerge as a genuine contender to Rangers’ title.

Socceroo Tom Rogic was heavily involved in both the first and the third goal but he left the field with a hamstring issue.

“I thought our midfield was outstanding,” Postecoglou said afterwards.

“Tommy Rogic breaking the lines in the first half.

“And the front three would have the pace and technical ability to cause trouble, we had to get the ball to them and they would do the rest.

“We have to wait and see on Rogic. He says it wasn’t too bad but he felt his hamstring. We’ll assess it, we need to be careful with him as he has played a lot of games.

“Since the international break we have been consistent and settled and we have players to come in and help us. Now we have options off the bench.”

Rangers’ lead over Celtic at the top has been cut to just two points now after a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen.

Aberdeen had won just once in their last 11 games, but led 2-0 inside 16 minutes as Christian Ramirez and former Celtic captain Scott Brown headed home.

Alfredo Morelos quickly halved the home side’s deficit, but it took a controversial penalty nine minutes from time, converted by James Tavernier, to preserve Rangers’ unbeaten home record in the league stretching back to March 2020.
