EPL news 2021, Arsenal takeover bid, Stan Kroenke, Daniel Ek, value, price, latest

Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek is preparing a $3.2bn offer to buy Arsenal from American Stan Kroenke as club legend Thierry Henry reveals there has been contact between the two parties.

Ek has publicly been pushing Kroenke to sell ever since the disastrous European Super League plan was revealed and has received the support from a number of former players.

Kroenke has been silent on the matter and while reports suggest that he is not willing to sell, Ek is still willing to table a huge offer for the club, according Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

He tweeted: “Daniel Ek has written to Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke to tell him he wants to buy the club.

“Ek will make a bid of £1.8bn ($3.2bn) before the end of the week. Ek is hoping Korenke will listen to what he has to say and consider his offer. If the offer is rejected it will be left on the table.”

Henry is one the three former players backing the bid, with Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp also on board with the Spotify founder.

And Henry told Sky Sports that Ek won’t give up on buying the club he supports, regardless of the answer from Kroenke.

“I know a lot of people wanted to hear about [the takeover],” Henry told Sky Sports. “It is true. Daniel is an Arsenal fan, he didn’t say it for any publicity. He is an Arsenal fan for a very long time.

“He already – I’ll give you something – reached out [to the Kroenkes] and already said himself that he had collected the funds to make sure that he can put in a good bid.

“They now need to listen. A lot of people have been screaming that they want the owner out. We are trying to offer a solution involving the fans and getting the DNA of the club back.

“There needs to be a discussion, but he reached out. I think it is going to be long and not easy – if it does ever happen. One thing that I want to reiterate is that Daniel will not move away, he will be there waiting to see if they want to sell.

“That is going to take a very long time, we know what we want to do, but first and foremost we need to make sure that we can take over, if they are listening.”
