MIAMI — Baltimore Orioles right fielder Anthony Santander went on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a sprained left ankle and is expected to be sidelined two to four weeks, manager Brandon Hyde said.
Santander was hurt running the bases in the first inning of Tuesday’s game at Miami. X-rays were negative, and Hyde was relieved by a diagnosis.
“I was really pleased with the results we got,” he said. “I was thinking the worst.”
The Orioles recalled outfielder Ryan McKenna from the alternate training site at Double-A Bowie.
Tigers starter Matthew Boyd leaves in 2nd inning with left knee injury
Boyd signaled to the dugout with a 1-1 count to Leury García, and manager A.J. Hinch and an athletic trainer went to the mound. Boyd then left the game.
Boyd’s ERA rose from 1.82 to 2.27 with his one-inning outing.
Oakland Athletics’ Matt Olson scratched after getting hit near eye
Olson missed the A’s 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Manager Bob Melvin said there were no broken bones and X-rays were negative, but it remains to be seen if Olson will be placed on the injured list.
“Depends on when the eye decides to open up,” A’s third baseman Matt Chapman said after the game. “That thing is sealed shut right now.”
Olson, 27, is slashing .296/.363/.580 with 6 home runs and 17 RBIs this season.

Colorado Rockies select contract of veteran first baseman Matt Adams
DENVER — The Colorado Rockies selected the contract of veteran first baseman Matt Adams from the team’s alternate training site.
The 32-year-old Adams was signed by Colorado in late March. He’s a career .259 hitter with 118 homers and 397 RBIs in stints with St. Louis, Washington and Atlanta. Adams was originally selected by the Cardinals in the 23rd round of the 2009 amateur draft.
Adams hit 20 homers during the regular season for the Nationals in 2019 when they won the World Series.
To make room on the roster, the Rockies optioned outfielder Sam Hilliard to their alternate training site. They also designated right-hander Ashton Goudeau for assignment. Goudeau was claimed off waivers by the Rockies in April from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
