Formula 1 teams are no strangers to intrigue and secrecy. But Red Bull have just taken things to the next level on the first day of promotional filming ahead of the 2021 season.

Drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez took part in a day of filming on Wednesday at the famous Silverstone track in Britain, with Red Bull releasing 76 photos of the day’s running.

However, NONE of those photos showed the new RB16B car the team will use in competition this season – despite the team stating both drivers spent time on track in the new model.

Photos were released of both drivers, and reserve driver Alex Albon, driving the 2019 RB15 car. A bunch of photos of front views, full garage shots, and whole-team shots were released – but all appear to deliberately hide the new car.

F1 2021: Daniel Ricciardo news, McLaren boss gives verdict on social media controversy

Published

on

Daniel Ricciardo has received public support from his McLaren boss over the public tongue-lashing the Aussie star gave Formula 1 officials this month.

Ricciardo admitted he may have gone overboard in his criticism of F1’s decision to highlight major crashes last season but is adamant it’s wrong to glorify the sport’s most frightening moments.

The 31-year-old was scathing of the call to continually replay Romain Grosjean’s horrifying fireball crash in Bahrain last year, and said this month F1 figures should be ashamed for putting the spotlight on crashes where drivers are in real danger of suffering serious injuries.

After a few softball questions about which Grand Prix he most wants to win (Melbourne) and his favourite pizza topping (diavola), a fan named “Laura” put the Aussie on the spot.

“Do you believe the story of the length of your nose? There is gossip about the length of your nose. It has something to do with other,” the reporter relayed, before Ricciardo cottoned on to where the question was heading and interrupted.
