Italian Super Cup: Juventus def Napoli, Cristiano Ronaldo, goal, record, video

Andrea Pirlo won his first trophy as a coach on Thursday (AEDT) as Juventus beat Napoli 2-0 in the Italian Super Cup, while Cristiano Ronaldo made more history.

While it’s still a slightly controversial topic — with no black and white answer — Ronaldo’s 64th minute opener against Napoli, per Opta, moved him to 760 career goals, and past the official all-time leader, Josef Bican (759).

While Brazilian legends Pele and Romario both claim to have scored over 1,000 career goals, and Bican over 800, those numbers include friendly, amateur and unofficial strikes; moving them below Ronaldo’s total.

Pele officially sits at 757 career goals, Romario at 743, while Lionel Messi trails with 719.

Ronaldo’s 760th goal came in just his 1040th career appearance, as the Super Cup win also brought up his 30th career title, and fourth with Juventus.
