on

Supercars star Fabian Coulthard says his future with Shell V-Power Racing won’t be known until billionaire owner Roger Penske decides whether or not to continue his support of the Championship-winning team.

Coulthard is currently competing in his fifth season with DJR Team Penske and told Fox Sports’ Loud Pedal Podcasthe has ‘no idea’ whether he’ll be offered a new contract.

“We’re waiting for a decision to be made from America on what’s going to happen and transpire for the future so I won’t know until after Bathurst,” Coulthard said.

“All I can do is the best job I can, focus on what I can control, and we’ll worry about the rest later.”

Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll escaped unpunished on Friday after stewards at the Portuguese Grand Prix agreed to take no further action following their crash in second practice.

The Red Bull driver and his Racing Point counterpart said that the collision was the result of a misunderstanding and that neither man was entirely to blame.

“Stroll was on a fast lap and was allowed to pass by Verstappen on the lap preceding the incident,” said a stewards’ statement.

“Given the information from his team and usual practice, Verstappen assumed that Stroll would back off for the next lap and moved to overtake along the main straight.

F1 news 2020, Portuguese Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo, Renault, Oscar Piastri, Formula 2, 3, Bahrain test

Australian young gun Oscar Piastri will follow in the footsteps of Daniel Ricciardo as he jumps into a Renault Formula 1 car for the first time after winning the Formula 3 championship earlier this year.

Piastri will drive the team’s 2018 car next Friday in Bahrain as part of a four-day test session for three members of the Renault Academy.

The 19-year-old Melburnian has Australian F1 royalty in his corner in Mark Webber, who is his manager, and is hoping for big things for the teenager.

Ricciardo first got behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car in 2009, two years before his race debut in 2011, so the signs are positive for the highly-rated Piastri.
