F1 2020 Austrian GP: Daniel Ricciardo result, reaction, why he had to retire, Renault

Published

on

Daniel Ricciardo remains optimistic about a competitive final season with Renault, despite his season opener again ending in retirement.

The Australian made a bright start from 10th place but his Austrian Grand Prix only lasted 17 laps before being forced into a precautionary retirement due to a cooling issue.

Riccardio had four mid-race retirements last season, including in the opener in Australia, however he was still upbeat about the car and team’s performance as teammate Esteban Ocon finished eighth.

“Today was a reminder of what Formula 1 can be like and, sometimes, it’s unkind,” said Ricciardo, one of a whopping nine retirements in a chaotic race.

Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton, British Grand Prix, news, result, F1, Silverstone

Published

on

Lewis Hamilton is uncatchable in this year’s drivers’ world championship, according to his main rivals.

Both Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari effectively conceded the title on Sunday after the British Grand Prix as the six-time champion claimed his third straight.

That the championship leader completed the race on three wheels made no difference to their view that the only man with a chance of overhauling Hamilton is his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas.

British Grand Prix news: Formula 1 News, Kneeling stance, Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkone

Kimi Raikkonen has defended his decision and that of six other drivers not to take a knee at the British Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton almost missed out on another win as last-lap dramas saw him finish first despite racing on three wheels.

Drivers had another opportunity to take the anti-racism action prior to the race after Lewis Hamilton criticised the F1 for a “rushed” display after winning the Hungarian GP.

This time there was far better preparation underpinning the display as Hamilton and others took a knee as has been seen in other sports across the world.
