Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone takes second shot after being slammed by Lewis Hamilton ‘uneducated’

Former Formula One CEO Bernie Eccleston has doubled down on ugly and unpopular comments from earlier this week where he said, “In lots of cases, black people are more racist than what white people are”.

The comments drew widespread condemnation from the F1 world, with the organisation and six-time champion Lewis Hamilton taking aim at the comments.

The F1 were quick to hit back at Ecclestone’s comments, calling for unity to “tackle racism and inequality,” and that the organisation “completely disagree” with the comments.

Speaking with CNN Sport, the 89-year-old Ecclestone said he hadn’t noticed it over the years, and was “surprised” to hear Lewis Hamilton had been affected by racism in the sport.

V8 Supercars, Sydney SuperSprint 2020: Scott McLaughlin sets Sydney Motorsport Park record, Eastern Creek

Scott McLaughlin has added a 63th Supercars pole position to his growing collection of accomplishments after breaking his own qualifying record at Sydney’s Motorsport Park.

The Ford flyer will start the second of Sunday’s two 33-lap races from the front of the grid after smashing out the fastest lap at the western Sydney track.

His hot lap was better than the mark which he set at the venue in 2018.

V8 Supercars, Sydney SuperSprint 2020: Nick Percat wins Race 8, Scott McLaughlin battle, video

Holden dark horse Nick Percat has won his first Supercars race since 2016 by eclipsing Jamie Whincup in the seven-times series champion’s 500th career start.

Percat started the first of two Sunday races at Sydney Motorsport Park from sixth but flew past Whincup, who led from pole until lap 23.

It was the 31-year-old Brad Jones Racing driver’s third career victory from his 200th start and first since an Adelaide 500 triumph four years ago.

F1 2020, Formula One, Austrian Grand Prix: Daniel Ricciardo won’t be frozen out by Renault before McLaren switch

Renault boss Cyril Abiteboul says Daniel Ricciardo will still play a crucial role in the team’s development despite leaving at the end of 2020.

Ricciardo called it quits at Renault before turning a wheel in anger this year, opting to join long-term admirers McLaren for 2021.

Such a move historically sees the wantaway frozen out of development discussions and relegated to No.2 driver status.

Abiteboul, however, says neither will be the case for Ricciardo, whose experience will be milked by the French manufacturer until the very end of his lucrative contract.
