La Liga: Karim Benzema backheel assist video, Real Madrid defeat Espanyol title

Published

on

A brilliant back-heeled pass by Karim Benzema has helped Real Madrid take a step toward reclaiming the Spanish league title with a 1-0 win at Espanyol.

With Espanyol about to make it to halftime with a clean sheet, Benzema cleverly unlocked the hosts’ defence. He used a no-look pass with his heel to poke the ball through the legs of defender Bernardo Espinosa and meet Casemiro’s move into the heart of the box.

Casemiro’s resulting goal and some flawless defending were all Madrid needed to win and move ahead of Barcelona by two points at the top of the table. Zinedine Zidane’s team took advantage of Barcelona’s 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo on Saturday by securing a fifth straight win since the league resumed following a three-month stoppage as Spain fought the COVID-19 outbreak.

EPL Premier League scores, golden boot Danny Ings goals, Southampton defeat Watford highlights

Published

on

Striker Danny Ings is just one goal off the pace in the race to be Premier League golden boot after he netted twice in Southampton’s 3-1 victory at lowly Watford.

Ings struck in each half to reach 18 league goals and move just one behind top scorer Jamie Vardy, who is enduring a drought after streaking clear for Leicester City earlier this season.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl backed Ings to continue his goalscoring form in their final matches.

“Nobody will deny how important a player he is for us,” Hasenhuttl said. “Everything is possible. We will play with him in the last six games, and if he gets a chance, you see how fantastic his finishing is.

“It’s definitely a sort of outrageous quality he has and when we scores it is fantastic.”

EPL, Liverpool FC, Andy Robertson, Premier League winners, champions, table, Instagram, fixtures, results

As soon as the final whistle blew at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea had beaten Manchester City, Liverpool were crowned champions for the first time in 30 years.

Unsung hero Andy Robertson then immediately appeared on LFCTV via a Zoom call – hailing the mentality of Jurgen Klopp’s incredible squad and warning they were ready to accept the challenge of dominating for years to come.

It’s easy to understand why the Scottish left back is so desperate to hang on to this winning feeling.

After all, this was the same Robertson, 26, who when he was beginning in the game with Queen’s Park moaned that life was “rubbish” and he was skint living off an apprentice wage in his homeland.
