There’s no comparison between Olivier Giroud and Karim Benzema — at least in the Real Madrid striker’s eyes.
Benzema has taken a swipe at his fellow countryman, saying ‘you don’t confuse F1 with go karting’ when drawing similarities between the two.

The 32-year-old Los Blancos forward was infamously snubbed by French head coach Didier Deschamps during the selections for the 2018 World Cup squad — one which Le Bleus went on to win with Olivier Giroud leading the line.
Having not played for the national team since 2015 and clearly still rather bitter, Benzema has now taken a jab at Chelsea forward Giroud.
In an Instagram live video with French actor and comedian Thomas N’Gijol, Benzema said: “You don’t confuse F1 with go karting. And I’m being kind. I know I’m F1”.

When asked about France’s success with Giroud up front, Benzema said: “It works because he’s there. That’s all. It’s not going to be spectacular, it’s not going to be anything crazy but in his way you see more of a (Antoine) Griezmann or (Kylian) Mbappe because he will put the work in. Does everyone like that way of playing? I don’t know.”

Benzema scored 27 goals with 18 assists in 81 appearances prior to his spectacular fallout with the French national team.
As for Giroud, he has bagged 39 goals and 10 assists in 97 caps — with 29 of those coming after Benzema’s exclusion from the squad.
