EXCLUSIVE — He may have resisted overtures to play in the A-League, but Didier Drogba will play in Australia this year.

The Chelsea legend has signed on as the headline act in what will be a blockbuster bushfire relief football match on Saturday May 23.

A four-time Premier League champion and dual golden boot winner in the Premier League with Chelsea, Drogba will provide genuine global star power, along with the likes of Dwight Yorke and Italian great Claudio Marchisio, for the ‘football for fires’ fundraiser.

Now 41, the last team Drogba played for was the Phoenix Rising in the MLS in 2018, where he scored 14 goals in 22 games.

Round 17
