The NFL has indefinitely suspended Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett for hitting Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in the head with his helmet during Thursday night’s game.

In addition, Steelers lineman Maurkice Pouncey has been suspended three games and Browns lineman Larry Ogunjobi for one game.

Rudolph has been banned for the remainder of the regular season and postseason, the NFL said. He also must meet with the commissioner’s office prior to being reinstated next season.

All three players have been fined, and the Steelers and Browns organizations have also been fined $250,000 each.

All suspensions can be appealed.

Source — Patriots re-signing veteran kicker Nick Folk

The New England Patriots will be re-signing kicker Nick Folk, a league source confirmed to ESPN.

The move, which was first reported by NFL Network, was expected after the Patriots waived Kai Forbath on Monday and were left with no kickers on the roster.

Forbath was signed to replace Folk, who had an appendectomy last week. In Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans, Forbath went 1-for-2 on extra points and made a 23-yarder on his only field goal attempt.

NEW YORK — Safety Ronnie Lott and cornerbacks Mel Blount, Mike Haynes and Dick “Night Train” Lane are unanimous selections for the NFL’s All-Time Team,

As part of its centennial season celebration, the league announced Friday night the defensive backs and special-teamers for the squad, as selected by a 26-member panel.

So are the safeties. Joining Lott are Ken Houston, Emlen Tunnell, Larry Wilson, Ed Reed (who entered the hall this year), and Jack Christiansen.

Indianapolis placekicker Adam Vinatieri is the only current player chosen among specialists. The other placekicker is Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud.

Saints rule out starting LBs A.J Klein (knee), Kiko Alonso (thigh) vs. 49ers

METAIRIE, La. — The New Orleans Saints have ruled out two of their starting linebackers before Sunday’s critical NFC showdown vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

Strongside linebacker A.J Klein (knee) and middle linebacker Kiko Alonso (thigh) were both injured during last Thursday’s win at Atlanta. The timing is especially unfortunate because the 49ers have the NFL’s No. 2-ranked rushing offense at 148.0 yards per game.

And because both teams are 10-2, Sunday’s game could wind up determining the NFC’s top seed and home-field advantage.

The Saints’ run defense, meanwhile, ranks No. 3 in the league, allowing just 88.6 yards per game. They will likely count on veteran backup Craig Robertson as one replacement starter. Backups Stephone Anthony and newly signed Manti Te’o could also help fill the void.

On a positive injury note, the Saints’ standout left tackle Terron Armstead is listed as questionable after he returned to practice on a limited basis all week with his ankle injury. Even if he is not ready to return yet Sunday, it’s a good sign that he will be back soon.
