Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly left Juventus’ home ground before the final whistle of their 1-0 Serie A win over AC Milan on Monday (AEDT) after being substituted for the second match in a week.

Paulo Dybala replaced Ronaldo on 55 minutes with the Argentina striker going on to score the winning goal 22 minutes later at Allianz Stadium to keep Juventus top in Serie A ahead of Inter Milan.

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo looked glum as he came off and directed some words at coach Maurizio Sarri before heading to the changing rooms andSky Sport Italiareported that the 34-year-old had left the stadium three minutes before the match finished.

However Sarri said he did not know whether Ronaldo had left the stadium early. “Disrespectful to his teammates? Like I said, I don’t know,” Sarri said.

“If it’s true that he left before the end it is a problem to be resolved with his teammates.”

EPL: Mason Greenwood, Manchester United, homegrown teenager a key to Premeir League club’s revival

Published

on

Manchester United have spent more than £1 billion ($A1.8 billion) on new players over the past nine years but the Red Devils latest revival owes much to a home-grown superstar in 18-year-old academy graduate Mason Greenwood.

The young forward was the star of the show as United scored five goals in the Premier League at Old Trafford for the first time since 2011 against Bournemouth at the weekend.

Greenwood smashed high into the Bournemouth net, first with his left foot and then with his right as free-flowing United won 5-2 in a style rarely seen since Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

In his first season with the first team, Greenwood has scored 15 goals despite making just 18 starts in all competitions.

Juventus wasted the chance to move 10 points clear at the top of Serie A as the defending champions blew a two-goal lead to lose 4-2 at a Zlatan Ibrahimovic-inspired AC Milan on (Wednesday AEST), after second-placed Lazio’s shock defeat at Lecce.

Maurizio Sarri’s men led through goals from Adrien Rabiot and Cristiano Ronaldo early in the second half, but were then blown away by a brilliant Milan display as Ibrahimovic scored and had an assist.

Milan coach Stefano Pioli, who could reportedly be sacked at the end of the season, saw his side boost their hopes of European qualification by moving above Roma and Napoli into fifth.

“I am not remotely thinking about August 3 or the future. I am thinking of the next game,” Pioli told DAZN.

Manchester United are in fine form, with an attack and midfield thriving since the Premier League restart. But Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish remain important transfer targets, says Sky Sports News reporter James Cooper…

United have won their past three Premier League games by an aggregate score of 11-2, with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba clicking in the middle of the pitch behind attacking trio Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

However, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after Saturday’s 5-2 win over Bournemouth he will continue to look to improve his squad – which could well mean investing in the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho and Aston Villa’s Grealish.
