F1 2019, Mexican F1 GP, Mercedes F1, Lewis Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton is envisaging another “tough” Mexican Grand Prix for Mercedes in the wake of “pretty shocking” results in each of the past two seasons.

Hamilton has his first mathematical opportunity to clinch a sixth drivers’ world title in this Sunday’s race, but to have any chance he must finish on the podium — something he has not managed in Mexico City since 2016, despite clinching the last two championships there.

Red Bull have won the last two races at the atmospheric Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, with Ferrari also beating Mercedes last year around a complex circuit where downforce is reduced amid high altitude and car cooling is a key challenge. The Scuderia’s field-leading straight-line speed is likely to make them an even greater threat this weekend.

Brad Jones Racing will expand to a four-car operation for the 2020 Supercars season, with Super2 young gun Jack Smith to move up to the main game.

Smith joined the Albury squad in 2017 and won that year’s Super3 title, and is in his third Super2 season with the team.

He is no stranger to the main series – he made four wildcard outings at Symmons Plains, Winton, Hidden Valley and Tailem Bend – and also linked up with Todd Hazelwood at Matt Stone Racing for a maiden PIRTEK Enduro Cup campaign.

Before the dust settles on the 2019 titles, we will take on Valencia for the season finale!

Marc Marquez and Honda have wrapped up the riders’ and manufacturers’ titles respectively, but one still remains active – the teams’ championship, which Ducati leads by two points over Repsol Honda.

On the way to his sixth MotoGP title in seven years, Marquez broke Jorge Lorenzo’s record of points over 18 races, and carried Honda to the constructors’ crown with his monster 395-point haul.

It shows just how good Marc has been – of Honda’s 401 points, he has scored 395. Takaaki Nakagami scored six in Austin, while Lorenzo is on zero after a shocking maiden season.

Formula One appear to have taken on board six-time champion Lewis Hamilton’s concerns over the environment and have announced plans to become carbon neutral by 2030.

The goal to eliminate the sport’s carbon footprint includes not only race cars on the track but the entire F1 circus that accompanies the sport, extending to road and air transport of team employees as well as the transportation of equipment to the tracks all over the world.

F1 says it will “move to ultra-efficient logistics and travel and 100% renewably powered offices, facilities and factories” and offset emissions that cannot be cut, according to the BBC.
