In his own words, no one loves Supercars more than its record-leading driver Jamie Whincup.

However, despite the furore over his inflammatory comments made at the ITM Auckland SperSprint, Whincup was adamant he “won’t change anything” about how he operates despite facing a possible race ban.

Whincup’s heated comments came after he was penalised for passing the Safety Car in Sunday’s Race 24 when he believed he was being incorrectly held behind it, before slumping to a 16th-place finish.

We never thought we’d see the day — Marc Marquez won a last-lap battle!

After losing four final-lap battles in the first 12 races — two of them went down to the last corner — the seven-time world champion stitched up Fabio Quartararo with two corners to go and crossed the finish line 0.0903 seconds ahead of a very ecstatic rookie.

The Frenchman came so close to winning his first ever MotoGP race, and in the process, moved up to seventh in the standings and took over leading Independent Rider status from Jack Miller.

Tickford Racing driver Cameron Waters may face sanction for comments made following the dramatic end to the ITM Auckland SuperSprint.

Jamie Whincup has already been issued with a ‘please explain’ from Australian governing body the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) over his own explosive comments.

Whincup’s on-air remarks came after he elected to overtake the Safety Car early in Sunday’s Race 24, was hit with a drive-through penalty, and was consigned to 16th.
